Therapy for Kids in Seattle

The Healing Powers of Play

Play is the natural language of children. Using the power of play, Play Therapy helps children express their inner world in ways traditional talk therapy cannot. Your child's behaviors, no matter how concerning they seem, are a form of communication. Play therapy helps to uncover the feelings beneath the behaviors to better understand your child's needs.

Changing Negative Behaviors

I can help support your child's social, emotional, and behavioral growth to overcome negative behaviors. I use evidence-based, neurobiologically informed strategies to empower children to be their best selves. I work with children 4-10 (for older kids, see the Adolescents & Teens page) who are experience symptoms including:

  • Acting Out or Meltdowns
  • Life Transitions (moving, divorce, blended family)
  • Anxiety or Fear
  • Grief and Loss
  • Situational Trauma
  • Bullying and Peer Relationships
  • Nightmares or Bed Wetting
  • Decreased Motivation
  • Focus and Attention Challenges
  • Clinginess or Attachment Issues

Parenting Support

Being a part of your child's treatment is key. I work closely with parents to provide skills and resources that extend the child's treatment beyond the therapy room. My goal is to increase connection between you and your child by providing the support you need as a parent while helping your child. I also offer a 10-week training on Child Parent Relationship Therapy to teach parents how to conduct play therapy sessions at home. This is particularly helpful for overcoming attachment or parent-child relationship challenges.
